Dan Sheehan is an award winning songwriter, international performer, and social activist taking on corruption and environmental devastation with music and lyrics.
Solo and as leader of the bands Banter and The Dan Sheehan Conspiracy, Sheehan has toured the U.S., U.K., Ireland and Spain, receiving airplay on hundreds of radio stations and podcasts worldwide. He has performed or recorded with Patrick Moraz (Yes, the Moody Blues), Dave Krusen (Pearl Jam, Candlebox), John Densmore (the Doors), Spencer Cobrin (Morrissey), Darrel Herbert (the Toadies) and Bob Both (James Brown); and has opened for legends including Courtney Love, the Meat Puppets, and Kíla.
With his current live concert experience The Seas Are Rising, Sheehan builds on his acclaimed show and 2019 album Tales from Earth Incorporated, with a musical cry to attention of the urgency of the climate crisis currently threatening the worlds’ inhabitants. Rock, soul, world, jazz and classical musicians join forces with stories of those around the world already facing devastation from climate change and environmental destruction. Songs about the recent fires scourging lands from California to Brazil to Australia, hurricanes devastating populations from Louisiana to Puerto Rico, drug cartels and fossil fuel companies exploiting natural resources from South America to Africa and sinking islands in the Pacific and Indian Oceans tell the story of a planet and its people in peril and the need for an urgent response.
Sheehan has received two awards from ASCAP (American Society of Composers, Authors and Publishers) and received grants for The Seas Are Rising and Tales from Earth Incorporated from the Puffin Foundation and from the Center for Peace, Justice and Reconciliation. For Tales from Earth Incorporated, he was named “Overall Songwriter of the Year” at the Elephant Talk Indie Music Awards the album received “Best Political Subject Album” distinction from the music director awards at WHFR-FM radio (Dearborn, MI). He has performed at festivals throughout the US, UK and Ireland including the Edinburgh Festival Fringe (UK), the Galway Fringe Festival (IE), the Manchester Americana Festival (UK), Le Cheile Music & Arts Festival (Oldcastle, IE), the Texas Rockfest and Red Gorilla Music Fest in (both in Austin, TX), the Shuttle Shuffle Festival (Bradford, UK) and many more.
